If you haven’t Huddled before, I am going to describe it as simply as possible: the Huddle is a collective exhale.
A place to let that crap off your chest
Lean on others
Focus on what matters
Have a chinwag
Be inspired
It’s all the collective, wonderful stuff that makes being a woman awesome
The premise is simple: one Zoom room, two hosts (Alice and Elizabeth, an incredible HR director), and as many of you as possible.
Here is how the Huddle works:
* We have an informal meet and greet, led by Elizabeth to start proceedings (who you are, what you do, sharing a positive from the week)
* Elizabeth then opens the floor and asks if anyone has any work challenges they are looking for support/advice on? Usually we have one of two
* Challenges that we have covered recently include (there are so many, I couldn’t possibly mention them all): speaking up with confidence, managing tricky working relationships, applying for new roles/promotions
* What follows can only be described as a wondrous, deeply supportive, insightful hug of a conversation that moves gently around the room. There is no expectation to share or speak, we often have listeners who like to use the chat box to interact. Others let rip. We welcome you all.
* The room is always flooded with advice, shared experiences, understanding, empathy and plenty of LOLs, because it’s Friday; The Huddle possesses a reassuringly lunchtime vibe.
* You leave feeling lighter, better understood, held in the best way possible, reassured and ready to go again at work.
I would love for you to experience the Huddle. Newbies often share that they have wanted to join for sometime but have felt a bit nervous, or not confident enough. Please know, the Step Up community is kind to its core. We cannot wait to welcome you in.
